Hobart's independent record shop since 1982, specialising in new and second-hand vinyl. At various locations over the last nearly 40 years, but always at Hobart's famous Salamanca Market, in the same location since the start. Known as Hobart's Different Record Store, and has become a bit of an institution. After our founder Lin Stanton (a Hobart music legend) died in 2020, we were closed during 2020 (also because of Covid) - he left the business to a few of his friends who re-opened in Feb 2021 and are continuing the tradition of offering interesting music to our customers. Traditionally it was mainly second-hand but we now source our records mostly new from all main Australian distributors, as well as a few international ones. We would love to be involved and actively promote RSD, even though we do not have a building. Cheers.
